Meditation Course at IRIEEN

CODE OF CONDUCT

For the Meditation Course

If you are thinking of joining the meditation course being conducted here at IRIEEN Nasik, then read this code of conduct care fully. It gives you the essential information about this course, and the course discipline that you will have to follow for getting optimum benefits from it.

What is this meditation course about

If you know your shortcomings and seriously want to change yourself for the better, then this meditation will greatly help you. This meditation will help you live life completely free from all types of mental miseries. You will learn to lead similar peaceful life. From this meditation will arise WISDOM that will play a very significant role in your life.

Participation in this course is absolutely voluntary. You should not join this course just because someone else wants you to join it for whatever reasons he may have to suggest your name.

Join it only if you must, agree with the objectives of this course, and are fully prepared to follow the course discipline in its totality and without any reservations.

Duration

Duration of this course is 10 days, and fully residential, meaning thereby that for the entire duration of the course you will stay at the course site

Course Discipline

    1. You will have to remain with the course for the entire duration of the course in all circumstances, and practice the steps as per the instructions of the guide. Once you join the course you will not be allowed to leave the course in between.

    2. Every participant has to remain in the designated area that is totally secluded from the rest of the place. No participant will ever leave this secluded place for the entire duration of the course. No contacts with any outsiders are permitted under any circumstances.

    3. From the start of the course to the last day, each and every meditator will observe noble silence, which means silence not only by not talking to any one, but remaining silent by body actions, not even having eye contact with fellow meditators.

    No telephonic talks with any one or receiving any type of messages during the duration of the course are permitted.

    Your success will largely depend upon your observing NOBLE SILENCE all the times during the entire duration of the course. As a matter of fact, participants must advise their family members that they should under no circumstances try to contact them during this period.

    4. OBSERVANCE OF SELF DISCIPLINE BY:

        a. Not taking any intoxicants of any type like cigarettes, tobacco alcoholic drinks etc.

        b. Not indulging in any type of sexual misconduct.

        c. Not telling lies. While talking to the guide answer questions truthfully.

        d. Not killing a living being.

        e. Not stealing, that is not taking any thing that is not rightfully yours.

    5. Each and every participant is expected to follow the instructions of the guide fully, by making maximum possible efforts. No participant should modify the instructions given by the guide, based on his judgment or beliefs. If any one has any particular difficulty in following some specific instruction he should freely discuss the issue with the guide. During the entire course meditators should not perform any other PUJA, RITUAL, FAST etc. This is a very important requirement.

    6. You should not read or write any thing during the course.

    7. No special dress is required. You should meditate in a dress in which you are most comfortable.

    8. You should carry all the items needed by you like toothpaste, soap, etc. etc for the duration of the course. There will not be any arrangements for getting such things from the market.

    9. If any meditator is taking any medicines because of his illness or any discomfort, he should have sufficient stocks of such medicines with him to last the entire duration of the course. The guide must be told about the health related problems at the earliest opportunity.

    10. The participants can carry out physical exercises if they so desire during the rest periods. They can take a walk in the designated area without ever going out of the same.

FOOD

Only vegetarian food will be served. Since it is quite difficult to cater to individual taste, it is expected that you will willingly partake whatever is served to you during the course. Every effort will be made to give you simple nutritious food. There will not be any dinner served, only light snacks will be served instead. You must keep yourself light. It will help you in meditation. You should not bring any food items with you.

TALKING TO THE GUIDE

Your guide will be staying in the same premises with all the participants. In case of any problem you may contact the guide day or night, so that solution to the problem could be found

Under no circumstances you should speak in the meditation hall.

If any clarification is needed on this code of conduct you should talk to the guide before the start of the course.
